Google recaps Gemini models, Pixel 11 and AI product updates

Google published a roundup of its August 2026 artificial intelligence announcements, led by two Gemini models, the Pixel 11 device family and additions to its education and productivity products. The company also reported that the Gemini app had passed 1 billion monthly users.

Gemini models for developers

Google released Gemini 3.7 Flash, which it described as its most intelligent workhorse model yet for coding and agents. According to Google, the model offers substantial improvements across software engineering, knowledge work and web development workflows.

The company said Gemini 3.7 Flash arrived three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash. Google introduced it at half the original Gemini 3.6 Flash cost per million tokens.

Google also announced Gemini 3.5 Transcribe, a speech-to-text model intended for real-time transcription. The company identified voice agents, live captioning and post-call analytics as potential developer workflows. Google said the model turns raw audio into polished, context-aware transcription and is designed to handle noise and jargon.

The roundup additionally said Google introduced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash to give users more control when generating videos.

Pixel 11 and Gemini Intelligence

At Made by Google 2026, Google unveiled the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The company said the devices include camera upgrades, enhanced durability and its Google Tensor G6 chip, which runs the latest Gemini Nano model.

Google said the four devices were designed for Gemini Intelligence, which provides personal assistance intended to save users time.

Education and Search

Google announced that eligible college students around the world could receive a Google AI plan for one year at no charge. The offer accompanied new and enhanced study tools for the school year.

The company also introduced a student hub, teacher-led tools and SAT preparation in Gemini. In Search, Google added AI-powered education features that it said can explain complex concepts through interactive visuals and create practice quizzes for the SAT, ACT, GRE and LSAT. Google said students can also use Lens for step-by-step learning and notebooks for organization.

Gemini Live and app usage

Google added four productivity features to Gemini Live: Personal Intelligence, Daily Brief, Spark and hands-free inbox management. The company said the additions allow users to discuss their day by voice and delegate tasks.

Google also said the Gemini app surpassed 1 billion monthly users. According to figures shared by the company, 63% of users talk directly to Gemini, while busy parents are 43% more likely to use it for everyday tasks. Google said Gemini generates more than 150 million images each day and that small businesses use its image, video and audio tools to produce marketing materials.
